Speak your mind!
During the weekend, all delegates participate in a youth parliament
modeled on the Ontario Legislature. Each delegate is encouraged to speak
his or her mind on any of the topics prepared by the Cabinet.
In the past, topics have included health care reform, the environment, the rights of young Canadians, and the role of Christianity in today's society.
OYP is unique because it is a non-partisan model parliament. Each delegate has the freedom to express himself or herself without the constraints of official party lines.
At the end of each debate, all delegates voice their opinions by voting on the legislation at hand. Any legislation passed by the majority of delegates is sent on to the government in Toronto and Ottawa . We believe that politicians should hear what Christian youth think about contemporary issues.
