All will be well!

Ontario Youth Parliament works hard to ensure a safe environment for all delegates. Adult supervision is provided by our Adult Resource Counsellors (ARCs), who are former parliament delegates with an interest in preserving the traditions of OYP for a new generation. The minimum ARC-to-delegate ratio is 1:6. If you want to speak to an Adult Resource Counsellor to find out more about the event, take a look at the Contacts page.

Delegates who attend Ontario Youth Parliament will be provided with meals from Friday evening to Monday noon. If your child has any dietary concerns, restrictions or allergies, please indicate them on the registration form.

Youth delegates will be accommodated with billets from the host community. Billets are usually members of the host congregation or another church in the area. Delegates will be billeted in single-sex groups of two or more. If you have requests or concerns about billeting, please contact our registrar at registrar@oyp.on.ca.

Harassment of any form is not acceptable at Ontario Youth Parliament. Any individual experiencing harassment is encouraged, where possible, to discuss the behaviour with the other party to find a solution – or otherwise, to ask an Adult Resource Counsellor or cabinet minister to help resolve the issue. A copy of our harassment policy will soon be available.

Alcohol and/or illegal drugs will not be consumed by any participant at an Ontario Youth Parliament event, regardless of age. Possible responses to breach of this policy can include informing parents, reporting to the police, and/or expulsion from the session (being sent home at the delegate’s expense). A copy of our drug and alcohol policy will soon be available.

Delegates under the age of eighteen must have the written permission of a parent or guardian in order to attend OYP. If you are the parent of a delegate who is 17 or younger, please sign the appropriate space on the registration form to indicate your consent.
