OYP 2015 Starts Tomorrow

Sometimes it's easier to write when you're doing it with someone you admire. Maybe it's easier when you're at an event with an organization you love. Maybe it's easier when the Premier just gave you a free lollipop. We're sure one of those reasons had something to do with this.

Davis: Hi! I’m Davis.
Annie: And I’m Annie!
D: We’re both first-time Cabinet ministers.
A: And we’re both on the Public Relations Committee.
D: Despite those two similarities, our inductions into this wonderful organization were very different.
A: My first parliament was Ajax/Pickering in 2013.
D: While I was brought to the Parliament held in Ottawa in 2001 when I was still a toddler.
A: When I arrived, I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
D: I was just excited to move up from the Page chairs to the big-boy tables.
A: I don’t think I’ve ever gotten as many hugs as I did in that four day period.
D: I was already a pro when it came to giving and receiving hugs.
A: When Parliament came to a close, I couldn’t wait to come back and see everyone again.
D: Ditto.
A: I applied to Cabinet this year and I was at work when I got my acceptance call.
D: I was lying in my bed.
A: I started hyperventilating and thought Michael Harris, the Leader of the Opposition, was lying to me.
D: I was like "Bruh, cool beans."
A: Cabinet is a blast. It’s been a great experience that has given me the opportunity to get super close with people I’d never talked to before—like Davis!
D: There’s a lot of work to be done but when you’re working with so many amazing people, yes Annie I’m talking about you, it never really feels like work.
A: Oh Davis, you’re making me blush!
D: ;)
A: What are you looking forward to the most about OYP 2015?
D: Getting to see all the amazing new delegates speaking their minds, making new friends, and knowing their heart. What about you Annie?
A: Probably getting to see all of our planning and hard work come together. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing all of the new delegates and getting loads of hugs!
D: So Annie, will you be applying again next year?
A: Only if you do.
A/D: See y’all tomorrow!
